In a time punctuated by uncertainty and novel threats, we have seen such strength and resilience from our county leaders and residents. The power and importance of counties across the nation can never be overstated. From on the ground intervention to policy advocacy, we have shown time and time again that nothing moves without counties. It is with this understanding and commitment that I am proud to take on the role of President of the National Association of Black County Officials.

With over 2 decades of experience in public service, I believe in the importance of advocacy in policy and in practice. One of my areas of passion has been advocating for the needs of our children and our ability to serve the most affected in our communities. I believe that children deserve every opportunity to create the lives they wish to see for themselves and that ensuring their safety, education and wellbeing are among the most important tasks we face. Towards this goal I continue to actively volunteer in my community, having done so for over 35 years, centering schools, faith-based organizations and entities that work to bridge the gaps between the more resourced and marginalized.
